Charity of the month wishing well
This month is the Beatrice charity.
September see’s The Beatrice Charity in Leek, the beneficiary of our wishing well.
Beatrice is a narrowboat dedicated, principally, to offering free days trips to groups of disadvantaged children. Their disadvantage comes in many forms. It may be a physical disability. It may be a learning difficulty. Or it may be a social or family factor. For over forty years Beatrice has been helping such children to feel the joy of time spent in the fresh air in the countryside. And, if they are able, the new challenge of helping us through the locks. On the way we will always see other boats and historic waterway features, like bridges, locks and cottage. We usually see farm animals such as sheep and cows. There are always birds, including ducks and geese. And if we are really lucky we may catch a glimpse of a Kingfisher flying low over the water. Or a Heron patiently waiting to catch her lunch.
Beatrice is fully equipped with all you need for a good day out, including special facilities for our less able guests. You can find more information about the boat and her facilities by clicking here.
The Beatrice charity will also be taking part in our One Great Day event on the 24th June, pop down and say hi and learn about the charity.
